Bolivia is the third largest coca and cocaine producer in the world. Since Evo Morales has become president, many rules and laws about coca have been thrown out in recognition of the importance of the plants important role to the country’s economy and history. The negative effect is that it has created an opportunity for those who want to exploit the new laws for making cocaine. This growing industry is using endless coca plant fields and is threatening the traditional way of life.
